Frischer Wind

Was sollte daraus werden?!
We've decided to do some sewing on the recent Needlemarket at the Barendorf.
A look through my fabric stash revealed a striped linen fabric.
But what to do with it?!
As the linen is a sturdy fabric, I could only imagine turning it into some kind of daywear/ working garment - a gardener's pelisse!
A pattern was quickly made and the fabric cut, but I hardly had any time to finish it on the Needlemarket.
Yesterday the dress was eventually done, just in time for the weather change...the pelisse fits perfectly over my dress while gardening in the crisp chilly air...
The pelisse is closed with hooks and eyes, the belt with the Dorset button is merely decorative.
Now I'm finally prepared for any kind of weather!

  3. Dear Sabine,
Now that's a handsome pelisse for the garden. Wow.

Might you be willing to take us on a virtual tour of your garden? The glimpses we see are so pretty, and the plan is most interesting; I think I spy a reflecting pond? What a joy to sit near it of an afternoon to sew.

    Very best,

    Natalie

  5. Aawwww...Dankeschön - thank you!
Actually it was a struggle to sew the linen fabric, especially the wrap front...but alas it's done and I'm happy:)...on to the next project!
@ Natalie: The pictures are taken in our front garden, the beds are still kind of bare as the hostas just started peeping through the soil and there's only anticipation of the buds on the apple tree. I happily share some pictures in May (my favourite month in the garden)
