Es ist ein offenes Geheimnis, dass nicht nur Übung den Meister macht,
sondern das Gelingen der Werke nicht minder vom Einfluss einer
geeigneten Muse abhängt...
...und noch weniger ein Geheimnis ist es, dass meine Muse eine Katze ist!
In dieser Eigenschaft sind Katzen nicht erst seit Beatrix Potters wunderschönen Erzählung
"Der Schneider von Gloucester" unterwegs.
It's more of a well-known and widley spread secret, that not only practice makes perfect,
but that the sucess at the sewing table also depends on the influence of a proper muse...
...and it's even less of a secret, that my muse is a cat!
This characteristic has developed even much earlier than in Beatrix Potter's lovely story "The tailor of Gloucester".

Auch in der Frühromantik wurden Katzen sehr geschätzt und sie finden sich in vielen zeitgenössischen Darstellungen wieder.
Allen voran in den Bildern der Malerin Marguerite Gérard (1761 - 1837).
Was liegt also näher, als eines der herrlichen Kleider zu Ehren meiner Muse am Nähtisch nachzubilden?

Ich liebe dieses Gemälde schon seit langem und das Kleid überzeugt durch schlichte Schönheit mit interessanten Details.
Und es ist bereits alles vorhanden. In meinem Stoffvorrat habe ich einige Meter hübschen Baumwollsatin in eben diesem blau-grauen Farbton entdeckt...
I'm in love for quite a while with this painting and the dress is very convincing in it's sober beauty with all the lovely details.
And it's all ready to start. I've found this stunning shade of blue-grey cotton sateen
in my fabric stash...
...und natürlich bin ich während der Arbeit von meinen Musen Mila und Oskar umringt.
Was kann da noch schief gehen.
