Instead of summer's sunshine, we suffer from rain galore, grey skies and dreary vegetable beds!
In this weary bleakness everything calls for some colour at least and this is why I changed my mind regarding the projects. I've put the Guillaume Guillon-Lethières "Portfolio Girl Dress" on hold, while a lovely spencer in beautiful spring green and candypink silk found it's way on my sewing table.
What a delight to the eye!

I didn't manage to find a suitable silk fabric, but I've chosen a fine cotton fabric. Even after the first wash it has kept it's stand...and the colour:
it's wunderbar!!!

As soon as the rain finally shows some mercy, I'll post in detail (and with plenty of photos) about the blue linen dress and the ochre-coloured "Graenicher" spencer 1806 of the Dresdner female cook.
But here's already a first sneak peek:

    1. Can you believe, yesterday we've had a bit of sunshine, but no one around, who could have taken photos...I have to wait 'til the weekend and hope for improving weather...sigh...

    1. Thank you, Quinn! Indeed the met collection (with the amazing zoom-in) is simply too tempting...I do love all the spencer jackets there!

  6. Dear Sabine,
Had to write another note. I suspect that you are really going to enjoy doing the trim. It appears to be applique, and here are some ideas on how it's made. Flowers made of fanned bits of silk, partially appliqued down with the flower base. Couched around it, uneven cord. One could take lots of silk floss, and then a couple of strands of silk twist, and twist ones own to get that gorgeous effect. What do you think?

    Very best,
    Natalie

    1. Thank you very much for the input, Natalie. It's very much appreciated.
I've already purchased chenille covered wire for the small green leaves; creme, light pink and dark green silk for the flower and stem are in my stash. I still need to look for the light pink thread/yarn (maybe chenille would be suitable, too) and have some experiments with tea dye on the lace. Yes, indeed it will be lots of fun!
But first things first. Yesterday I've made up the pattern (which took me a whole morning, but now it hopefully works!)
