Lecker Erdbeerkleid

An was denkt man im Sommer? Erdbeeren!
Und dieses gestreifte Sommerkleid (Costumes Parisiens, 1812) erinnerte irgendwie ziemlich an ein Stück Erdbeerkuchen mit Sahne!
What's on your mind in summer? Strawberries!
And this gorgeous striped dress (Costumes Parisiens, 1812) reminded me somehow of a yummy piece of strawberrycake with custard!

Der Entschluß war schnell gefasst!
Rot/Weiß gestreifter Baumwollstoff musste her und ein bisschen Organza und Musselin für die "Sahne".
The decision was made!
Red/white striped cotton needed. And some yards of Muslin and organza for the "custard".


Ups, die Streifen sind nicht wirklich für das Fotografieren geschaffen.
Aber im Detail wird es ein bisschen besser.
Oops, those stripes are simply not made for photographing.
But it's better with the details.


(Nebenbei bemerkt: im Hintergrund befindet sich mein kleines "Aurikeltheater")

    may I ask how this dress closes--is it a wrap-front dress? also did you pink the ends of the ruffles or roll-hem them? they look so crisp.

  2. Hello Tara,
    yes - this is a wrap front dress. The right side closes with a ribbon tie (inserted into the folded waistband inside) and the left overlapping side with one hook and eye, all hidden behind the belt (which closes with a brooch in the original piece).
    I used a fairly wonderful cotton organza for the ruffles at the sleeves and collar, which does not really fray at all so I was able to just pink it with scissors.
    The "cream custard" hem at the skirt is attached with piping (red and white striped cotton) at the top and botton and additionally it's stitched down in a puff twice.
